New Day

Scott Williams reminds us not to settle for the spiritual status quo (Church Diversity: Sunday the Most Segregated Day of the Week).  Just because something has always been done a certain way, doesn't mean it should stay that way.

"Forget about what's happened; don't keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I'm about to do something brand-new. It's bursting out! Don't you see it?" (Isaiah 43:19a, the Message)

I just recently made time to put up some pictures at our home in Hannam Village (Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Korea).  Some are new, taken within the last month or so;  others are much older, going back a decade or more.  The thing about old pictures is that they don't really say anything about who we are now.

In the homes of our hearts, we have pictures of God laying around. Some of us have them covered in the basement; some are prominently displayed in the living room.  Some of the flannelgraphs are not true of God's character - like that one with where he is frying us with a magnifying glass... Isn't it time to change the view?  What new discoveries will you make about God in the new year? What are some of the old pictures that need to come down?
